University places at a premium
With A-level results due to be released in under a week, some universities are announcing the difficult news that they have no clearing spaces at all according to the BBC.
Students who fail to get into their first choice of university but still have good A-level grades enter clearing, which matches them to a university with places remaining. Many universities have already announced that they will not enter clearing, with others stating reduced figures – some even as low as 20.
With the number of university applications up 12% this year compared to last, the reports that universities are already full means that there could be thousands of students left disappointed.
There's a modern alternative to studying on campus
Online learning is the modern way to study a UK university qualification, giving students the opportunity to study when, where and how they want. Students are registered with a university of their choice but study from home in their own time using RDI's pioneering online campus, ilearn.
There are many benefits of online learning, the biggest being that students can choose to study alongside a full time career. This places them at an advantage once they graduate, giving them up to 3 years professional work experience alongside their qualification.
Many students also benefit from the broad range of students that they can interact with, gleaning valuable and rich life experiences from a variety of backgrounds.
