"I live in Portmore, St. Catherine in Jamaica. I have a full time job at International University of the Caribbean in Kingston, Jamaica
I selected distance learning because it allowed me the opportunity to study wherever I go and it did not restrict me to a particular time of day to study. I was able to do an internationally recognized programme while being in the comfort of my homeland and meeting other students worldwide.
Prior to applying to RDI, one local university indicated that I will be required to undertake other undergraduate course before being accepted to their MBA programme. This was required since I earned my undergraduate degree in Human Resource Management and not Business Administration. Another top local university indirectly turned down my application because I was 23 years old. I was encouraged to reapply the following academic year since other successful applicants had more management experience at the senior level.
Enrolment process
The enrollment and course selection process was quite simple, efficient and consistent. I could enroll at different time of the year and not be restricted to an annual intake period. I was able to fax my application details and receive my acceptance within the time period specified. I was never asked to pay an application or a registration fee.
The option to pay my tuition in installments was manageable and it allowed me to pay as I earned my salary on a monthly basis with no pressure.
RDI treated me more than a student, I was given the ultimate customer experience. I had the option to access online resources and post notes on the discussion board. RDI provided all the relevant course text and study materials. The student handbook had relevant information and presented for interesting reading.
RDI support
RDI support staff are super efficient, courteous and exhibit high levels of professionalism. I could always expect speedy response to my request or queries; the information provided was always relevant and accurate.
Distance learning helped me to take responsibility for my own learning and not be dependent on a tutor. The mode of study did not prevent me from meeting friends and have study partner. I met a friend for life and we found innovative ways to motivate each other.
I can say with no reservation that the MBA programme has helped me to get my current job and for receiving a promotion four months after being employed. It helped me to look at the bigger picture within my organization; also to recognize how my work contributes to the organization’s success. I have gained the confidence to undertake further studies.
I have recommended RDI to friends who are now current students and I wish to enroll in other programmes, provided it is affordable. I truly enjoyed the RDI experience!"
